Abstract

Within the framework of the study, diplomatic elements of the waqfnomathat areimportantinthehistoryof "UzbeklarTekkesi" (TheUzbeks Lodge) were studied and theircontent was analyzed.According to the available data, a request for information about theestablishmentofthe waqf was organized by SheikhAbdullah – the first sheikh of "Uzbeklar Tekkesi", which was built in 1752–1753 by Abdullah Pasha, who held the post of emin of the mint and governor of Marash and on the basis ofarchival documents it was established thatlegally, such a waqf doesnotexist. At the same time, the information provided byAyvansarai about the first sheikh of “Uzbeklar Tekkesi” – Sheikh Abdullah was supplemented. In particular, his full name and genealogy were clarified: Sayyid ash-Sheikh Abdullah Akbar Efendi ibn AsadullahAl-Uzbeki.Itwasalsoindicatedthat“UzbeklarTekkesi”wasnotestablished as an independentwaqfduring thisperiodandwasnot institutionally registered. Itwasrecordedforthe“UzbeklarTekkesi”thatin1788,Al-HajjiKhalilAghaibn Ahmad Efendiestablished thewaqfand thus granted thetekke (takya)legalstatus. According to the terms of the Waqfnoma, “Uzbeklar Tekkesi” is a Naqshbandi dargah (lodge) that first served the dervishes from the Qalandarhan mahalla of the city ofSamarkand, andthenthe founder ofthewaqf, KhalilAgha, changed thetermsofthe waqfand granted the rightto stayin thetekke to otherNaqshbandi dervishes. Thefactthatonlycharitablebuildingswereallocatedtothewaqfandthatnothing was donated that would generate income to cover the material needs of the waqf, such as their repairs, the expenses of the sheikhs and dervishes, indicates that the waqf created by Al-Hajj Khalil Agha actually existed – perhaps indicating the existence of somesourceof thewaqf thatis notindicated inthe officialdocuments.
