SCIENTIFIC AND METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF AN EXERCISE SYSTEM AIMED AT ENHANCING LEARNERS’ SOCIOPRAGMATIC COMPETENCE THROUGH AUTHENTIC MATERIALS

Abstract
Article examines the scientific and methodological foundations of a system of exercises aimed at improving learners’ sociopragmatic competence through the use of authentic materials. The essence, structural components, and role of sociopragmatic competence in foreign language teaching are analyzed. The study substantiates the didactic potential of authentic materials, the criteria for their selection, and their significance in developing sociopragmatic skills. In addition, the communicative, competency-based, contextual, sociocultural, activity-oriented, systematic, and gradual principles underlying the development of the exercise system are described. The proposed system includes motivational and preparatory, observation and analytical, reproductive, semi-creative, communicative and practical, independent and creative, and reflective and assessment stages. This system contributes to the development of learners’ ability to select and use linguistic resources appropriately according to communicative purposes, interlocutors’ social status, interpersonal relationships, the degree of formality, and the specific sociocultural context of communication.Keywords
