Abstract
This article provides a comparative-stylistic study of the features of irony, sarcasm, and mockery in the speech and dialogues of characters, based on masterpieces of Uzbek and world literature: Gafur Gulom’s novel “Shum bola” and Mark Twain’s novel “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” The research reveals the lexical-semantic, morphological, and syntactic formation criteria of ironical units, as well as the diagnostic stages of extracting them from a literary text. It is scientifically proven how social conflicts, class inequalities, and moral vices in society are exposed through the simplicity and childlike innocence in the characters’ speech.Keywords
