Abstract

This article analyzes the scientific-theoretical and methodological foundations for developing the media competence of higher education students through an integrative approach. The rapid development of information and communication technologies, the expansion of the digital learning environment, and the growing use of media resources have made the development of students' media competence one of the priority areas of modern education. In this study, media competence is interpreted as a comprehensive competence that is developed through its integration into the process of teaching English. The article examines the didactic potential of the integrative approach and presents a methodology for integrating media literacy, critical thinking, digital communication, and information analysis skills into English language instruction. Furthermore, it provides a scientific rationale for the effective use of authentic media materials, digital platforms, project-based learning, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), Task-Based Learning (TBL), and media projects in the educational process. The findings of the study demonstrate that an educational process organized on the basis of an integrative methodology significantly enhances students' media competence, communicative competence, and independent learning skills. The proposed methodology contributes to improving the quality of English language teaching in higher education institutions while fostering media literacy and advancing the digital learning environment.
