Abstract
The article is devoted to the development of a competency-based approach in teaching Uzbek language in general education schools. It examines modern methods for developing students’ language competence, integrating practical skills into the learning process, using interactive technologies, and interdisciplinary connections. Special attention is given to reading comprehension, oral and written speech, as well as critical and creative thinking skills. Pedagogical research emphasizes the importance of systematic assessment to determine students’ actual knowledge and skills.
