STUDYING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE COORDINATION ABILITIES OF YOUNG FIGURE SKATERS AND THEIR COMPETITIVE PERFORMANCE

Abstract
The article posits that developing the coordination abilities of figure skaters serves as the foundation for the successful execution of program elements during competition. It presents data regarding 11–12-year-old figure skaters—divided into control and experimental groups—covering results obtained at the beginning and end of the pedagogical experiment, statistical characteristics, absolute and relative growth during the study, and correlation coefficients between coordination abilities and specific components of competitive performance, alongside a discussion of these findings. The study examines aspects of developing coordination abilities in a balanced manner; such development enables athletes—particularly during the intensive preparation phases preceding major competitions—to easily recover from challenging situations encountered while executing difficult jumps and spins on the ice.Keywords
