ADULT SPEECH AS AN OBJECT OF LINGUISTIC AND PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH
Abstract
This article considers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of adult speech activity as a complex linguo-psychological phenomenon. The focus is placed on the synthesis of research paradigms when analyzing the functional specifics of mature personality speech. A systematic comparative analysis of linguistic and psychological research vectors is conducted: while the linguistic approach focuses on studying the "product" of speech (structural and syntactic characteristics, functional-stylistic varieties, and linguistic norms), the psychological vector is oriented towards revealing the "process" of speech production and speech perception (cognitive planning, motives, working memory operations, and emotional-volitional self-regulation). The study identifies the points of intersection between these scientific fields within the frameworks of psycholinguistics, discourse theory, and the anthropocentric paradigm. Based on the comparison of fundamental concepts of speech activity with modern linguistic models, the specifics of adult speech are substantiated as a fully formed, yet highly adaptive and dynamic system. It is demonstrated that, unlike speech ontogenesis processes in children, where pauses and speech disruptions are caused by a deficit of linguistic resources, similar phenomena in adults bear a functional and strategic character. They act as a tool for cognitive control, precise lexeme retrieval, and pragmatic adaptation under conditions of intense social interaction. The theoretical and methodological framework of the study is comprised of system-activity, comparative, and integrative approaches, which made it possible to combine the research toolkits of linguistics and psychology. The formulated conclusions expand scientific understanding regarding the speech behavior of an adult communicant, reflecting their social, cognitive, and emotional experience, and can be applied in practical psycholinguistic and linguodidactic research.Keywords
