Abstract

This article examines the architectural and urban planning principles for residential development in the mountainous and foothill regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The study focuses on settlements located in the Qashqadaryo and Samarqand regions, analyzing the influence of natural topography, existing construction practices, and the level of social and engineering infrastructure development. Using comparative analysis and a systematic approach, the research evaluates opportunities for the rational use of flat land, preservation of agricultural areas, and the sustainable development of residential environments in mountainous territories. The findings indicate that the implementation of modern spatial planning approaches, improvement of transport and engineering infrastructure, and the application of architectural solutions adapted to local climatic and geographical conditions significantly enhance the efficiency and sustainability of settlement planning. The results of this study can serve as a scientific and practical basis for the design of new residential settlements and the reconstruction of existing ones in the mountainous and foothill areas of Uzbekistan.
